Tamara's Professional Experience.
Working at Frito-Lay for 28 years has allowed me to gain experience in many critical areas including human resources, financial planning and supervisory responsibility.
During my tenure with Frito-Lay I have filled nine roles, managed hundreds of employees and been responsible for $140,000,000 budgets. In my current position as Senior Key Account Manager I am responsible for sales across eight states and developing and maintaining relationships between customers, employees and vendors.
After earning a BS degree with a minor in marketing, I went on to further develop critical thinking and strategic planning abilities by earning an MBA in Business. I serve as Co-Chair for the Carolinas Region of EQUAL and WIN employee resource groups at Frito-Lay and I am a member of the following groups: Carolinas Region Mentorship Program, East Division Diversity and Inclusion Council, and National Executive Women.
My professional experience with Frito-Lay has uniquely qualified me for Salisbury City Council. One of the biggest requirements of my job is to relate to many people from all walks of life and engage with them in order to reach agreements which are mutually beneficial for their business and Frito-Lay. In order to achieve this I have to listen, understand, problem solve, and let the customer know that I have empathy for their situation and then, together, I work with my customer to achieve a compromise.
In my professional life I have to be able to quickly adapt to changing situations and utilize critical thinking skills in order to be successful. Already, I have transferred this knowledge from my professional life to my civic life while volunteering for various city committees and non-profits in our city.
